Baths or Showers? How to improve your self care experience.

Everyone has their opinion on whether they prefer baths or showers.

We are going to discuss the benefits and negatives of each and then give some suggestions on how to improve your bath or shower routine.

First up baths, baths are very relaxing, enable you to relieve muscle pain, improve your sleep and can help clear out your airways.

However, they take up time, a lot of water, you may overheat and they could dry out your skin if you bathe often.

Showers do have similar benefits these include, you are able to properly clean yourself, they’re convenient, can wake you up and give you an energy boost and helps with skin health.

However, hot water can damage hair, a lot of water can be used up and sometimes can be dangerous due to the slippery surfaces.

There are different products which can help to create the perfect shower or bath routine which we will discuss throughout this blog.

A lot of cleaning routines are suited individually to each person so you may not feel like every product suits you!

Choose your favourites and make sure to leave a comment letting us know what you picked!

We will start with bath products. One way to elevate your bath experience is by adding a bath bomb.

You can find different bath bombs which have different properties to suit your preferences. When choosing a bath bomb it is very important to be aware of the ingredients in order to not harm your skin.

They can add scents, colours and nourishing properties into your bath to improve the experience. A good brand to look at for bath bombs is Lush.

Another product to elevate your bath is bath salts. Like bath bombs these have different properties in order to meet different needs.

You can get specifically designed bath salts to help with muscle pain, relax you and mineral dense salts to benefit your skin.

These can be sprinkled into your bath whilst the water is running and soak into your skin.

Always be aware of the ingredients especially if you have allergies or sensitive skin.

Baths must have bubbles! When choosing some bubble bath make sure to choose a scent you like whilst ensuring it is skin friendly. A lot of cheap bubble baths can do more harm than good.

Some safe brands are Radox, The Body Shop, Cetaphil and E45.

As baths tend to be a method of relaxation adding a candle to the side of your bath can be a really nice addition.

Choose a scent you love, light it and relax. Brands which have amazing candles are The White Company, Jo Malone, Zara and Yankee Candle.

Sometimes when you’re in the bath, you can become bored easily. To prevent this you could take a book with you, play a podcast or some music or even set up your laptop or tablet to stream some entertainment while you relax.

If baths are for you by incorporating even just one of these suggestions, your bath routine will be even better.

Now for the shower products! Since showers can often be as part of your morning and evening routine it can be time efficient to add in other steps whilst in the shower.

Brushing your teeth and cleansing your skin in the shower is a game changer. It allows you to complete these jobs mess free and all in one step.

When choosing a cleanser, it is very important you are aware of your skin type and what works for you.

Of course the shower is the place to wash you hair. There are so many hair care brands which suit all different types of hair.

It may take you a bit of time to find the perfect shampoo and conditioner. Here are some reputable brands which offer a range of products to suit all hair conditions.

Aveda, Olaplex, Bumble and Bumble, Lush and Umberto Giannini.

Another essential product for a shower is body wash. These range in colours, scents and properties. Similarly to bath bombs and salts they have different products which target specific problems.

You can get exfoliating, detoxing, relaxing and refreshing body washes. These are available through the following brands. Dove, Molten brown, The Body Shop, Green People and Neutrogena.

Exfoliators are a perfect addition to any shower especially if you are removing fake tan or suffering with any skin conditions.

The Body Shop, Soap and Glory, Sanctuary Spa and Elemis are brands which offer amazing exfoliators to use in the shower.

Adding music while you’re showering is also a perfect way to lift up your mood or even relax you further.

There are also many benefits of cold showers which include, improved sleep, wakes you up, improves muscle recovery and works to improve your hair and skin health.

All of these steps work to making your shower even better and beneficial for your hair, skin and overall wellbeing.
